THE ESSENCE OF THE NOTION OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

The article analyzes the development of the concept of corporate social responsibility in its historical aspect. The place of the CSR notion among other concepts of the business-society relationship has been ascertained. Modern approaches to understanding the concept of CSR, their advantages and disadvantages have been considered. The essence of the corporate social responsibility through the interpretation of its every component has been explored. Factors that encourage organizations to form CSR have been analyzed. A researcher’s own definition of the notion of corporate social responsibility which, in contrast to other definitions, specifies the object and subject of the CSR, its goals and expectations has been proposed. Results of the research can be used as a basis for further development of the theory and practice of CSR organization.
